Find the right software SNMP card setup guideWhich software do I need?
Start with how the UPS will connect. Most sites with servers use the network card; single machines and line interactive UPS use a cable.
Over the network
SNMP card in the UPS (USSSNMP single phase, UTTSNMP three phase)
- SNMP card + IPsearchFind the card, set its IP, monitor in a browser, email alerts
- ClientMateShut down Windows PCs and servers
- PowerGuardShut down Linux servers and VMware ESXi
With a cable
USB, RS232 or RS485 from the UPS to one computer
- UPSViewOnline UPS: monitoring, logs and settings. Ideal for commissioning
- PowerManager IILine interactive UPS (UPSL0600, UPSL1200): monitoring and shutdown
- PowerGuardAlso connects by USB for a single Linux or VMware host
SNMP card & IPsearch
Fit the SNMP card into the UPS's intelligent slot and the UPS becomes a device on your network. IPsearch finds the card in seconds, sets its IP address and opens its web page, where you can see live data, alarms and history from any browser.
- Live input, output, load and battery data, with alarm history and charts
- Email alerts and SNMP traps, with optional SMS alerts via a 4G module
- SNMP v1, v2c and v3, Modbus TCP and MQTT for third-party and BMS platforms
- Optional temperature, humidity and water leak sensors (USSEMS)
- Works with
- All RackPower online UPS with a USSSNMP or UTTSNMP card
- IPsearch runs on
- Windows
- Connects by
- Ethernet (RJ45)

ClientMate
Install ClientMate on each Windows machine powered by the UPS. When the SNMP card reports a power failure, low battery or a scheduled shutdown, ClientMate saves open files and shuts the computer down cleanly.
- Shut down or hibernate after a countdown you choose
- Auto-save open files, or run your own script before shutdown
- One UPS protecting many machines, or one machine on several UPS
- Works with
- RackPower SNMP card
- Runs on
- Windows
- Shutting down without installing software?
- The card can also shut Windows down over SSH. Ask us for the remote shutdown guide.
PowerGuard
PowerGuard monitors the UPS around the clock and, when it's running on battery, shuts down the operating system safely, including VMware ESXi hosts and the virtual machines running on them.
- ESXi shutdown from outside the host or from a VM inside it
- Real-time monitoring with current and historical alarms
- Email notifications with different alert levels
- Works with
- RackPower online UPS via SNMP card or USB
- Runs on
- Ubuntu 18+, CentOS 7+, VMware ESXi 7+, Windows 10 and 11, macOS 12+
- Connects by
- SNMP v1/v2c/v3, USB, Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP
UPSView
UPSView connects one computer directly to an online UPS with a cable, with no network card needed. It's the go-to tool for installers commissioning or servicing a UPS on site.
- Live status and energy flow, event log download
- Settings, battery tests and bypass commands
- Several UPS on one RS485 bus, each with its own address
- Works with
- RackPower online UPS, single and three phase. Not for line interactive UPS
- Runs on
- Windows
- Connects by
- RS232, RS485 (with 485-232 adaptor) or USB
- Download password
- Your UPS serial number
PowerManager II
For the UPSL0600 and UPSL1200. PowerManager II shows live UPS status, saves your work and shuts the computer down safely when the power fails or the battery runs low.
- Live voltage, load and battery data in numbers and graphs
- Email and pop-up alarms, scheduled UPS on/off times
- Runs as a Windows service, so no one needs to be logged in
- Works with
- RackPower line interactive UPS (UPSL0600, UPSL1200)
- Runs on
- Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, SCO UNIX
- Connects by
- USB or serial cable

Questions
Is the software free?
Yes. All RackPower UPS software is free. UPSView uses your UPS serial number as the download password.
Do I need an SNMP card?
For network monitoring, email alerts and shutting down more than one computer, yes. To monitor one online UPS from one computer, use UPSView with a cable. Line interactive UPS use PowerManager II.
Can I add RackPower UPS to my existing monitoring platform?
Yes. The SNMP card supports SNMP v1, v2c and v3, Modbus TCP and MQTT. Download the MIB file to add RackPower UPS to your network management system.
Which software shuts down VMware?
PowerGuard. It supports VMware ESXi 7 and later, and can run outside the host or inside a virtual machine on it.
Can I monitor the temperature and humidity of my server room?
Yes. Plug a temperature and humidity sensor (USSEMS) into the SNMP card's COMM port. Readings appear on the card's web page and can trigger email alerts. Download the sensor setup guide above.
Can the UPS turn itself off and on at set times?
Yes. The SNMP card can schedule the UPS output off and on, for example to power down equipment overnight. Ask us for the scheduled on/off guide.
Can a BMS or fire panel read the UPS status?
Yes. The SNMP card supports Modbus TCP and MQTT, so building management systems can read UPS status over the network.
